Does anyone find it amazing that in the space of 7 months we have seen the two extremes of world class scam.
On the one hand the McCanns who amassed a £ million plus weathy financial backers purely by going down the pub and losing their daughter - a class act, top scammers.
On the other hand the Darwins who devised an elecborate plan of disaster, disapearance etc to defraud life assurance and rid debts but then tottally messed it up.
Is there a perfect scam or is much of it down to luck or 'unluck' ?

I don't believe there is such a thing as the perfect crime, as no matter how long it takes, the truth will come out. Both cases stink of lies, fraud and cover-up but the sickening difference is the McConn's put all this above their innocent child.. I know who I despise most..

I don't think you can call the McCanns scammers without knowing a whole lot more than any of us do. Their daughter is still missing.
The scam apparently perpetrated by the Darwins seems to have gone the way that most scams will ultimately - down the swanee.
I think there are two choices for a perfect scam:
- start a religion/sect/church. Oral Roberts - how could there possibly be a more successful scammer on earth?
- dictatorship - remain above the law

17 pdr You had extra effective initiate thinking up a clean creation to your questions as you wont be able to even call them significant suspects no longer to show self confessed serial killers . I continually thought that a serial killer became someone that killed many cases. So how many toddlers do you think of Kate and Gerry have murdered ? 2,? 3 ?4,?5 ? or much extra ? in basic terms what are you going to be able to dribble approximately while they are released as suspects.? Come on 17pdr. how many toddlers have they murdered ?. I, for one would opt to study your answer. yet as usual your silence will betray you.

I'd say luck, it has to be luck or in the case of the Darwins they should have seperated for a year or so and then left England for good, with only her returning for holidays etc...

we do appear to be entering the Age of the Dumbing down on ALL obvious criminal behaviour.
they tell us it's for the sake of society, in general.
we must all feel sorry for the con-artist, the criminal &/or bad parents, as punishing the guilty is becoming a thankless & pointless task.
Unluck was the Darwins down-fall, the scam unravelled for what real reason, we've not been told yet.
why admit the scam & come back to the UK now, walking into a Police Station.
Anything to do with his chances of prison-time being very, very remote, considering the over-crowding?
the mccanns?
we await the charges of Neglect.
But as the CPS, stands for Criminal Protection Services..........
NO HOPE!

I think you need psychiatric attention, how you can repeatedly accuse the McCanns who are innocent with anybody who may be guilty really is beyond sane behaviour

If there was a perfect scam, you haven't got the brain cells to think it up yourself, so you wouldn't know about it, to discuss it.
I find it extremely distasteful that - by implication - you think it's OK to lose a child if you get £ million
I hope you don't have any yourself, or i suspect they would be up on the paedophile's equivalent of eBay, before the day was out
{edit} -sigh- a daily mail reader, when will they ever learn?
the mortgage row is a couple of months old, and it was stopped after one payment. - that was wrong but it has been addressed and is old news (the daily mail must have temporarily run out of stories on princess Di, and needed a quick filler)
as for the tee-shirt, it's not my idea of a fashion accessory, but the idea is to keep their child's face in the public attention. I don't know that I would do the same thing, but then again, i have never suffered the loss of a child
and I still think your question makes you sound like a scumbucket paedophile-by-proxy

That's two down, one more to go.....they say it comes in three's.
The Darwins should have asked for advice from Lord Lucan on how to keep a low profile......silly sods..
Don't know if there's a perfect scam though.

I think you need to be careful what you say here. Are you suggesting that the disappearance of Maddie McCann was a scam? If so, will she turn up in five years aged ten, tanned with a Spanish accent?? I think not.

Yes, and they have both nearly pulled it off but the Darwins have obviously fallen out and he's decided enoughs enough. In the case of the McCanns, it would seem that they will get away with it completely.
Luck must have a part to play, the Darwins got away with it for 5 years, so you would think that they could have carried it on a lot longer if needed.
