Using a fake receipt for exchange of money. What does the Manger at the retail store do? Do they call the police and if so what are the procedures? What would be the legal action and charges be?

Well I guess they can start with Forgery (assuming the 'ticket' is fake) move onto Misrepresentation (you lied), attempted Fraud and Attempting to obtain money under False Pretences ....

If the Police are called (and can be bothered to turn up) they would decide if there was enough evidence to arrest you.(assuming you waited for them) .. chances are (unless you are 'known' to them) - you will be let off with an unofficial caution (since this involves less paperwork).

Why are you worried about this after so long? You sound as though you don't work in the store anymore, so let it go. This fraud racket is one of the oldest in the modern world, you did what you were asked to do, the Manager was one the one responsible for events after that.
