The way I understand it conservatives support minimizing the government's level of power and control over people. Isn't getting involved in military skirmishes all over the world just a government exerting more control? Policing the world seems like big government, not small.

Then again, banning abortion would be another form of government control. I'm so confused.

I know we were attacked by terrorists, but wasn't that because of the aggressive and controlling foreign policy that was already in place?

The political parties are coalitions of groups who support the each others policies but do not necessarily share a common ideology. Foreign policy is not a deciding factor for party choice for most people, so both parties have interventionist, and isolationist. Both parties also have control freaks who want to regulate other peoples personal behavior because being a control freak is more of a personality trait than a political position. They choose their party based on what aspects of your life they want to control.

Republicans couldn't win a national election without Chrisitan voters and war is definitely not the Christian thing to do. Today's republican party is seeking a global dictatorship and is forcibly bringing the world into the same union Lincoln forced the south to remain a part of during the Civil War.

I don't see where the Republlicans have changed much. They use fear, intimidation, and war to gain power and wealth, but they know how to win elections and most people like to back a winner....no matter how much it costs them.

The war against Iraq was not preemptive. Iraq refused to abide be the stipulations of the cease fire so we resumed hostilities.

War is sometimes necassary to defend Freedom. This is a key tenet of Republican philosophy

"getting involved in military skirmishes" was not our choice. No one forced Al Queda to attack us. Also, no one forced Saddam to attack US aircraft. There must be grave consequences for those who attack the USA.
