Trout, the question is very broad indeed. Not that it is not worth asking. Misinformation seemingly is the rule of the day. I wounder why you limit this to news papers and TV, the Internet is the greatest form of misinformation out there. Take wikipedia for example, I read posts on here all the time where wikipedia is used as a 'source' of information. Wikipedia can be edited by anyone. Main stream media is a pardonson entities as well, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, BBC, are all for the most part leftist, and Fox News leans right. Talk radio leans right for the most part. The most bias in my opinion is NBC, BBC, and CNN. Fox doesn't have a perfect balance of all views but it is the closest we have. What I believe to be the problem is people don't understand who is who. i.e. Liberals are often confused with far-leftist, which is wrong. Modern day liberals (true liberals) are now libertarians. Far-rightist are confused with conservatives, or even old school republicans. This is incorrect too. There are extremist on both sides and too little understanding of true principles of said groups. So to answer the question, every story on any network is misleading in part, for you will not get the rightist view from leftist networks, and you will not get a leftist view from rightist networks.

Every media outlet gives news that is geared toward their audience. It doesn't necessarily mean that the information is biased, but it can certainly mean that they don't tell the whole story. I think that most news in the US is totally watered down so as not to offend anyone, but that Fox and MSNBC are catering to the right and left, respectively. Liberal media bias is a joke. It was invented by people who want you to listen to them only. Most people call the media biased when it gives them news they don't want to hear because it questions their worldview.

For example -
was vacationing in a bedroom community of Washington DC
their local stations covered events inside the beltway for that day - and then came the national news
ABC-NBC-CBS-CNN-NPR all had different slants on 'what' had occurred -= only FOX was 'fair and balanced'
I had to ask - were they even there? Or did they have an agenda?
Like CNN's Florida debate - they had the spin ready before the debate was over - they KNEW what they were doing
should rename them - the DNCNN
Democratic Convention Cable News Network

i think one has to be a fascist to even believe that any public media specially in USA is liberal !
public media always focuses and blames the individual for any problems IE; he is homeless because he or she made bad choices or lazy, mental health issue, etc. you don't even find any words like socio-economic stratification and/or class conflict, etc. it analysis everything on individual level and not ever on social level. that is what distinguishes a liberal media from a conservative media. this alone is enough to conclude that the public media is biased and deceiving! peace

Most media outlets today are one sided and generally only give their opinion and add their slant on it. They consistently omit information or just get it wrong. They either are doing this on purpose or are too lazy to vet their story. Pick up any paper or watch any newscast.

Liberal news is biased.
Since Most Reporters Are Democrats And Since Over One Quarter Of Journalists Cheated (link) In Universities ...what does that say about accuracy of news?

In my opinion liberal media outlets are printing what they wish they could hear. They want to try to change the minds of voters.
Example of liberal media:
In September 2006, one story (Associated Press) says the town relaxes a new law on illegal aliens, and another story (Reuters) says the town strengthens the same law . An independent source says the mayor of the city said the law were made stronger.
Sept 8,2006
Associated Press headline: "Pa. city RELAXES illegal immigration law "
Sept 8,2006
Reuters headline: "Town STRENGTHENS illegal immigration law "
(Associated Press (A.P.) is known to have extremely liberal bias. Only Reuters and a few others tend to try to avoid biases.
