Believe means I do not know....

There has and always will be a difference between so-called believers and people who have operational faith. The so-called true believer operates on the assumption that their belief system is perfect and that perfection of belief is the goal. This is what gives religion, science and philosophy so much in common.

Consider Socrates another way. Only the man who has met true wisdom understands that wisdom is a gift. Belief is nothing but a means to an end. Or consider the statement of Jesus who, having seen a true believer at prayer, noted for his followers that the man was "praying with himself."

So-called true believers (a real oxymoron) can be found in any belief system and is not limited to Christianity in scope or depth.

I would tend to enjoy the season as much as possible, in an otherwise dingy world, and stick with Jesus or even Socrates; as the world tends to kill anyone who speaks or displays even a modicum of truth.

I'm a true believer.
I believe I truly cannot know God for certain.
I 'think' that Christians, Muslims, and Jews are ALL
looking to the same God - - with differing interpretations.
I don't 'know' which one is closest to the truth, but
I don't 'think' God ever intended us to kill each other
over our different philosophies.

Faith and knowledge are two different things. You may 'believe' anything you want. It could be argued that only
people insecure in their own faith would want to force others to believe as they do - - to reinforce their own ideas.
Why can't we all keep our beliefs to ourselves, and respect the right of others to have their own interpretations?

The wise man knows he does no know, but the wise man thinks. A faithful man believes. Separate the two.

With their heads on the chopping block and their eye on the clock, well, that's if they are at least a little wise. Fortunately for them they aren't, for the most part, so they have a chance at happiness. It's when they start focusing on the negative stuff that they start living a hell on earth.

tRue believe,
have faith in what they believe in.
And One who sticks to what he believes in is wise.
Yet the Wise man acknowledge the diversity of Life ,therefore like Socrates once said again:
"The human affairs are unstable ,therefore avoid undue elation in Prosperity and undue depression in adversity".

hope this helps; there's gotta be a connection - like different soldiers fighting the same cause

True believers? Oppose to what? Just normal plan humdrum believers? LOL

To my experiences believers tend to be very sanctimonious, hypocritical and defencive.

I have no objection to anyone thinking and believing what ever "floats their boats!" You can think what you like, but please just don't try to recruit me or expect me to lap up your ideas. I am free to choose to think and believe what I like, same as you are. I can't stand the god-squad ramming all this hell and damnation down my throat. Its patronising. There is more than one path up the mountain. You take yours and I shall take mine. Peace, respect, tolerance... enjoy the view!

Nobody knows it all!
The one that claims to knows it all generally knows not much at all.
The wisest of all is the one who willingly will claim not to know it all
A true believer has faith that will carry him/her through thick & thin no matter what no matter who no matter where no matter how

'A life unexamined is a life not worth living' Socrates.

And I have yet to meet a 'True Believer' who examines life.
