it depends, the make of the phone will be the major decider. if its a nokia phone that isn't too new you can go the net and just search nokia unlocking codes and eventually you will find one that works. other makes require different methods like sony ericsson phones require a cable that you plug into your phone and computer and unlocks the phone over the internet. other than that you can go to a shop that unlocks phones for a fee usually around 10 quid.
