What is the importance or need of ethics?

Ethics is a requirement for human life. It is our means of deciding a course of action. Without it, our actions would be random and aimless. There would be no way to work towards a goal because there would be no way to pick between a limitless number of goals. Even with an ethical standard, we may be unable to pursue our goals with the possibility of success. To the degree which a rational ethical standard is taken, we are able to correctly organize our goals and actions to accomplish our most important values. Any flaw in our ethics will reduce our ability to be successful in our endeavors.

See since we all come from different social structures, familial raising, monetary scales, and levels of dysfunction...No two people are the same.
The only reason ethics are here is to let those who are immoral hide behind something that is better than they are in actuality.

morals are the code of conduct which a society expects from its member.

sometimes there are conflicting morals. For example: stealing bread is immoral. saving life is highly moral. but the conflict starts when someone steals bread to save a life. here two morals have come in conflict of each other.

in such circumstances society frames some values which serve the purpose of a touchstone. these values which are to judge in case of conflict between tow morals are ethics.
