It has rained every day for more than a week and gradually everything in my house, especially the bedroom, just feels damp. I have been trying to leave windows open and have done a lot of washing but what can I use to get rid of the damp feeling in the house itself?

De-humidifier's are definitely the best and most efficient ways to get rid of moisture in the air. They do run rather expensive though and get more expensive with the more water that they are able to hold.

Another option that is 100 times cheaper is damp rid products. They have an assortment of products but the best one comes in a little bucket and you pour some granules into the little plastic bucket and the granules absorb moisture and then turn completely into liquid. Once the mixture is completely liquid you can dump out the liquid and get more granules and keep re-filling it. This works for any size room a normal house will have. They cost no more than 10 dollars to purchase and you can refill it as much as you want. I used to work at Ace Hardware and know for a fact that they do carry and sell damp rid products.

Moisture In House

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.healthboostpc.com

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

Hardware store - purchase a dehumidifier. It takes excess moisture out of the air. I had a basement with the same problem. Dehumidifier solved the issue.

fist off make sure the grade is sloped away from the house i.e. rain water / sprinklers must visibly drain away. Dont skimp on this one. Two remove all wood scraps and other debris that will rot / mold. installed the plastic over the dirt and then a powered vent fan could be used in addition. and have it checked for mold. mold usually has an odor associated with it

I've used dehumidifiers over the years with great success. In fact I have actually gotten over a bucket of water out of mine over a 24 hour period. Try this along with a good air cleaner for your room.

If you have ceiling fans, use them. If you have window fans, put in window facing out to draw the moist air out.

Sounds like you're in a warmer climate, but it's hard to tell these days. Whole country is screwed up with rain and snow, warm and cold.

If it's still raining, humidity levels are still high, so opening the windows isn't really going to help unless you put a window fan in window and blow out.

Floor fans could be used also. Fans circulate the air and dry things up.

If it's cool/cold enough to use furnace. Furnace will dry things up.

Dehumidifiers also takes moister out.

Air conditioning takes moist air out.

Don't know what else to suggest. Until the rains let up and the sun comes out, it will remain damp and humid.

Sorry, this is all I can offer.
