i have a 1998 oldsmobile intrique. the other day the power steering went out.. it started making some noise when i would turn the wheel then all at once it quit working completely..
i checked the fluid level and it was really low. refilled it, took it down the road and it felt like it tried to work for about 2 minutes then it went out again. when i checked the fluid this time it was just as low as the first time but when i removed the cap it was like it had pressure to it. it sounded like when you open a bottle of pop with the air pressure being released. and the fluid was all foamy. do i have a leak or is my pump going out???? please help, i drive this car 65 miles one way to work and it sucks driving it without power steering..

you do have a leak, it could be the power steering pump, steering rack, or a hose, when the fluid is that low and you add fluid, the fluid doesn't fill the hoses, and rack, so when you start your car it will aerate your fluid, if you start your car and turn the wheel lock to lock, and let it sit awhile it will help

You have a leak somewhere . You need to take it to a reputable mechanic to have the leak located, and being you have run the power steering pump low on fluid, not intentionally, I would suggest that you have it replaced as well.
