how did you hear it the first time?
My boyfriend of two weeks said it to me through a dumb cell-phone text. My first "I love you" was through a text.... woopeeeee. And I even said that day, "please don't say those three special words to me through a text". I was so annoyed that I couldn't say it back until the next day. lol It was my first I love you to someone, so I said it to his face.

oh and yeah, he's my ex-fiance now. He chose to skip out on me for his brother during a time I needed him... my neice was sick in the hospital. I don't go for a man that can't think straight when it comes to priorities. It was just his sick way of backing out, he admitted.

Apparently he didn't really mean it and no matter what period of time you have spent with this man, you deserve better. Feelings are one of the hardest things to understand but understand how you felt when you got that message. You are better and deserve better and yes it sucks realizing that but you will find the one that truely loves every beautiful thing about you. Just don't be blinded. Lotz of luck to ya.

Mine was 17 years ago over the phone. My husband, then my boyfriend was in med school. He called one evening & before we hung up he said, "I miss you you know." I told him I missed him too. Then he said "Oh yeah, well I love you too." I just laughed & said, "Good, I would really hate to feel this way all by myself. I love you too." He said, "Good, talk to you soon." I said, "O.K., good luck with finals."
Now, we have been married for 15 years & we have three sons & we say I love you every day. To each other & our boys. Sometimes it is hard for men to say it the first time, but then again, women don't want to be the first to say it in case the man doesn't feel the same way. It's crazy how such a wonderful feeling can be so hard to share with someone else.

My boyfriend was my best friend before we dated. He started off by telling me he luvd me after every text, and then one day he said he loved me. I called him and told him exactly what you did and told him not to tell me that until he made me his girlfriend. So one day we were out and he made me his girlfriend and told me he loved me to my face. When I asked him about why he originally said it on a text he said he did not think it made a big difference. Bottom line, guys are clueless and don't think about the significance of the way they say something. They just say it thinking that it is okay. If you have an open relationship tell him exactly how you feel. If he does not respect you and start changing his ways then sad to say but he does not love you like you love him.

Well I'm sorry you feel that way but guys are very scared creatures inside . I'm sure he will think a little more before saying something else so important in an inappropriate way but hey he said it and remember he is a guy.
Has he said it to you since and did he know it was your first I love you ? I don't remember mine either.
Sorry

In the car, in my drive-way. I was shocked when he first said it because even though I felt it the whole time, that was the first time I also said it out loud. It was the best feeling in the world!
I ended up marrying him! My first true love!

I was on the phone with my then boyfriend... we were talking for over 5 hours and he told me it at the end of the convo. Unfortanetly, I did not feel the same so I did not say it back... I hated hurting his feelings but why say it if you don't mean it?

An older girlfriend said that to me on a date before I gave her my virginity. I was 16 years old (she was 18).
It wasn't love. It wasn't lust. It was teenage silliness. We didn't know anything.
