I mean, I'm at level 3. And it took me a long time to get there. But there are some people with like 300,000 points. Is it that, or is it just that those people with that many points dedicate most of their life to doing well at Yahoo Answers?

I just want to know? Why don't I do well?

You don't suck at yahoo answers ...LOL That is the funniest thing I have ever heard of here. It takes alot of answering questions and having your answer picked as the best just depends on what people vote for or the asker picks. Some of them have been along time getting that many points and it takes time to get that many points! Do as you can and you will be up there before you know it. Some of them simply just answer with yes or a no or some silly answer just to earn the 2 points for answering questions too.

It takes time. I have to get all the way to 5,000 to get to the next level and then it gets harder from there. Getting best answers has helped me get there quicker. I think some have many accounts set up and also get their friends to vote for them, I think it's unfair as they should vote for what they think is the best answer...............instead of some silly goofy answer..........unless the question calls for a simple or goofy answer. I don't like it when someone asks a question that they are serious about and need help and they get some pretty nasty answers. Why bother to answer them if you want to just bash people?
Look at the dates and the year the people started that have all these points. Does it really matter anyway? I answer to help someone if I can. I haven't read any of your answers so I don't know what you type. I suppose that some have dedicated a good part of their life to just answering questions.

A lot of those people would have been a part of Yahoo! Answers since it first began, and would answer a lot of questions per day. They would also research answers thoroughly and vote to the limit every day (each vote gives 1 point, which comes to 60 a day if you are level 3 like me). Others would vote for their own answers as best, so that they will often get 10 points. If you are answering 60 questions per day, surely some of them are going to be best answers, and even if they're not then thats still 120 points a day. Many of them will devote a large portion of time to Y!A each day as well.

Don't worry.. Some tips for getting more points include:
- Giving good answers that askers are likely to choose for best.
- Watching your previously answered questions and going back to vote for your answer.
- Voting for a best answer in as many questions as you can per day (this is most fun in your favourite section; just go to 'Vote' next to 'Answer' above the list of questions).
- Answering as many questions as you can per day.

Some people I think have no jobs and max their points every day :o) Or perhaps they have a doctorate in an area or tons of expertise and are constantly chosen as best answer. They never ask questions, only answer them. Maybe they've been on here FOREVER?

As for your lack of points...
A good way to get points is to go back in your history and vote for the best answer on things that are in voting. You also get people who give thumbs down for no good reason, which you can't control.

Heh no worries some people just have "more time on their hands" so they can answer more questions i only come here maybe once a week... its not that important to me... but just answer lots of questions you actually know the answer to, get best answer allot and you'll be at high levels in no time hee hee I'm level 1

You just need to stop thinking about the points for now. Be patient, the points will come in time. One day you'll look back and say, "wow, I remember when I was barely on level 3!"

I think that people with 300,000 points REEAALLLLY need to get out and play. That's just WAYYY too much time spent on here. I think I spend way too much time on here and I am a level -2 I think. Yes, that is it, people spend their lives trying to get to high levels on here. Who really cares? you don't get anything for it, if we did, I would have millions of points

I'm in the same boat. I haven't had internet @ home since february! That's my excuse.

Some people are more dedicated to being online, or have more time to waste, etc.

Don't aspire to be good at yahoo answers. There are bigger fish to fry. You probably have a smaller butt than they do. For the person who gave me a thumbs down, you have no sense of humor.
