I still wear cool cloths
My husband and I crank the tunes in the back yard in the summer to the point that neighbours wander over to join us and have a few drinks.

I can't wait to see the Foo Fighters in concert in March (my sone is jelious)

My son has fun pulling UFC moves on me and I don't even get mad when he does.

And I listen to cooler tunes that he does (rock/ alternative)_

You are a parent... you'll never be cool in the eyes of the children! (I'm just as cool as you (I have to put us in the same category... lol)... I go to concerts, listen to COOL music, crank the music up loud, laugh with her friends, have a busy social life and my daughter still thinks I am embarrassing and uncool... ME!?!?!?!)

My 13 yr old says I am uncool just because I used the word "excellent". It's uncool for them to think their parents are cool.

okay well im a little older then 13 but you dont seem to bad
maybe your just a lil goofy or weird sometimes.*?
or try to be to motherly to him, he probably wants to be treated older
and it depends on his personality or which stereotype he considers himself (if any at all)
try to just do things that he likes with him but dont be loud and embarrassing just be whatever and go along with whatever happens
dont judge too much
your still his mom so he'll never see you as the coolest
and you still have to be his mom first rather then a friend but just loosen up a lil more he may be your baby but really...
he isnt quite your baby anymore, so you cant act like he is
righ tabout now hes interested in girls, dating, kissing, if not already soon to start drinking and hangout at his friends places with you not knowing whats going on.
my sisters little brother was about 12 or 13 anfd he had two girls over at the house one night when i slept over and him and his buddy were watching them act like lesbians all over eachother in the shower (in bathing suits) after going in the hot tub... your son may not be like that but dont forget thats the type of people hes around now so he's going to be trying to act older and also eventually will get like that as well
and im sure it doesnt help that at his age he's starting to go thoguh his rebellious teenage years

BTW just so you know, im 17

It does not take much to be "uncool" at 13. Even the wrong color of shirt can do it.
Why worry about it? Just keep being a good mom.

Every child seems to think their parents are uncool, silly I know.

It must hurt too hear it!

Give him 2-3 years and he'll change his mind trust me :)

Why don't you ask him why he thinks you 'uncool' ?

Good Luck

You are trying too hard. Why do you have to follow the trend? I'm 22 and I don't follow the trends. I don't listen to today's sorry excuse for music. Who cares what they think?

Nope, the new kids are a strange lot, being cool is no longer cool. They actually like my big woodgrain stationwagon.

my teenage kids think they have the monopoly on being cool, any thing i say or do is met with groans and eye rolling, from the clothes i wear, to the music i listen to. so i no longer care even when they refer to me as "ancient" im 44..........i think you sound pretty cool, like me lol.
