A mixture of horror, grief and yes, a hot desire for revenge. It was reflex for me to feel that, and I suspect a lot of other people as well.

I was driving into work when it happened and didn't realize what was going on until I got into my office and found it empty. There was a conference room down the hall full of people with Fox News on and I saw the 2nd plane hit the tower. My first response is that I hope the pilot fell asleep at the wheel, but I had a gut feeling that the planes had been hijacked and my life was about to get a lot more interesting as I was in the USAF at the time. Boy was I right!

I was at work and wondered first where our government was and why nothing was being done. First the report of the first plane hitting the tower, then the second, then the Pentagon and the towers falling, then the plane in Pennsylvania. Then I thought our world will never be the same.

I didn't think about war in such a way as we are fighting it now. I figured Afghanistan, but the Axis of Evil never once occurred to me. I wasn't convinced there were enough terrorists in one spot other than in Afghanistan to declare a world wide war on terror, especially one that would lead to Iraq of all places. Still seems like the wrong way to go to me.

We multiplied our problems extensively. We would have been ahead of the game to just weed them out through cooperation with other countries by following the money and other intelligence after destroying their training camps.

Was still asleep when the first tower was hit. The clock radio went off, and instead of sports talk, there was news on the radio, which was strange since it was a sports talk station. Dashed to turn on the TV, and tuned in to CNN just in time to see the second plane hit. Wasn't really angry at that point, just shocked, and in disbelief. Can't really remember the drive to work, but it happened. Once at work rushed into the office to see what was happening. Tried to read message traffic for the day, but it was hard to keep up, and really wasn't up to it. It took a while for anger to set in, and that helpless feeling that come in when all you can do is watch while something you can't stop is happening. There was pretty much a consensus amongst us at work, we wanted justice, or revenge we weren't too picky.

I was at a courthouse contesting a speeding ticket. They cleared everyone out shortly after opening at 9. On the way to my boyfriends various family members called. We went in and started watching the coverage. I was kind of stunned that something like that had actually happened, here in the US. I would hear about terrorist attacks in other countries and think that is awful, the families forever broken, but never imagined it happening here.

I don't remember what I thought, I was against Bush from the moment he announced his candidacy and this did not change my opinion of him in the least. To me he will always be the man who was President during the biggest foreign terrorist attack on US soil. He didn't stop it. The US supposedly has the best intelligence in the world, yet we couldn't stop something, that was not pulled together in 12 hours. It took months, years of planning and they couldn't stop it. I stopped trusting anything the government said and started reading, alot. From that moment on I was hooked on politics and how it works. I didn't say alright time for war though, there was no country to attacked. We were attacked by a terrorist cell made up citizens of several countries, who was there to retaliate against? I never thought the US would be where it is today as a result of the attacks on 9-11.

I was in Washington DC and saw the plane hit the pentagon. we did not have the radio on and thought for a moment it was just a plane that had trouble and it had lost power. When i did get the information I was so stunned and sad for all the people who lost their lives .I did not think of war at that time nor anything else.Just a deep sadness.

I had just stated a night shift at Gatwick Airport and was expecting a lot of planes from the US. When we saw the coverage unfolding it was like history was unfolding in front of your eyes. We were glued to the TV coverage all night. I did not feel angry or hateful in anyway just sad.

Since then airport security has tighten up around the world and I have 'lost' my expensive leatherman multi tool in the Honk Kong Airport. So I have paid a real price - The terrorist owe me £100 plus interest.

I was homeschooling my daughter when I got a phone call from my Pastor that we needed to turn on the T.V.

I turned it on, and just as I did they replayed the first tower falling, the second one hadn't fallen yet.

As the reality sank in that it wasn't just building, but it was PEOPLE, I wasn't thinking of war, I was just thinking of how sad the whole thing was. Then as I saw footage of a man jumping from a window to escape the flames I just gasped. It was too awful to comprehend.

Finally, as it went on, I wasn't thinking "alright, time for war" I was thinking, "Oh no, we are going to have a war."

I was in a hotel room in on a diving trip in Asia. It was evening and I had just turned on CNBC to get the stock market reports.

To be perfectly honest I didn't know what to think. I was furious that someone would attack us like that and I wanted revenge. Hey, revenge is a good thing at times. But I had no idea who had done it although I thought "Islamist nuts" immediately.
