How silly is a goose? I'm obviously referring to the phrase "silly as a goose." How silly would that be?

I don't know about
"silly as a goose",
but I have heard the phrase
"loose as a goose."
I suppose they probably mean
about the same thing.
Geese are very silly creatures and
they do seem to have a
knack for reproducing.

I thought that was a Turkey that looked up in the rain and drown ;o)

goose - a man who is a stupid incompetent fool
Seems goose already had a derogatory meaning before silly was added. Does not seem as though it was meant to be a "silly" remark.
No telling who made the first reference or why the goose was chosen. Guess someone felt geese were stupid.

silly geese are silly. I find them unusually silly. When you think about it for a minute it all comes to you. Don' worry it happens to everybody when something they just realize comes to them without some sort of reason.

Barnacle Geese are very silly, nearly as silly as the humans that gave them their name!

Lol. Unfortuantely, they're silly enough to drown by looking up at the rain, continuously!
