I'm full term and every time I try nipple stimulation I get strong contractions..then when I stop they stop. Do you know why this happens? What can I do, I'm about to lose my mind being pregnant anymore

These home induction methods only work if baby and body are ready for labor to begin. Try having sex, walking and nipple stimulation. If contractions stop then baby's not ready. try again tomorrow. I know how you feel! I'm scheduled for my c-section on the 21st but I am way done! I have been off work since last week because my body starts to contract then stops. doc wants me to wait but I've had enough already!
Hang in there!

That's because there are hormones released that stimulate the uterus to contract when the nipples are stimulated. This would occur during breastfeeding too, but is not recommended whilst still pregnant. If you are close to term, why not ask the doctor if an induction is a good idea in your case.
Take care, no-one is pregnant forever.

Nipple stimulation just causes contractions.

That's why when the baby is first born it's best to try and nurse immediately, it will help contract the placenta out. Also, nursing will help continue contractions, and losing weight is generally quicker and easier.

Just try to be patient with baby, inducing labor is not the best of ideas. There are far more chances of a difficult delivery.

Good luck.

You're releasing Oxytosin when you stimulate your nipples. This is the hormone that starts labor. HOWEVER, your baby needs to release a hormone also. these 2 combined will bring on labor.

If the contractions don't stay, your baby isn't releasing the hormone and is NOT ready

Preemies happen, because well .... not everything can be perfect. They can be born early for all sorts of reasons. And one reason is yes, the hormones were released too early! Be thankful that didn't happen with you!
