I do, only index and middle fingers. I heard it was because of a vitamin deficiency, but I don't know what vitamin that would be.

They could be bruises or an insufficiency of certain vitamins and minerals. You would need more than just calcium. Go to the library to see if you can find a good book on nutrition. Learn what other vitamins and minerals you may be lacking. At 16 your body needs a multitude of extra supplements as you are still developing in many ways.

Yes on my right index and middle finger. Noticed this morning. I have always heard it was from lack of calcium but I was told by a doctor that it was cause from hitting the nail. That it could cause a white mark.

Supposedly it's from lack of calcium. Try taking calcium vitamins. Otherwise. it could just be from dry nails. Sometimes if you have nail polish on for too long they also can come because there is a lack of oxygen to the nail. Try removing your polish, moisterizing your nails with vitamin e cream or moisterizer, and drink more milk! Good luck!

I get them, but only on very rare occasions. There's a lot of theories as to what causes them, some say it's to do with a calcium deficiency, low zinc levels, not enough vitamin A.. I'm not really sure myself. I might keep it in mind to ask next time I'm at the doctors.

Nor now, but I have in the past. It's a sign of injury, not as bad as a blood-blister where you lose the nail. It will grow out with your nail and be gone.

I used to have them on my nails. I used to believe it was indicative of a vitamin A deficiency, but your question prompted me to do a little research and I found this very informative website which you might find quite educational: http://www.teenhealthfx.com/answers/Health/376.html

Yeah I have one. I heard you get them if your body is running a little short on calcium, so your nails show it if they get a little dinged up.
