I think I might be Bipolar, but I'm seriously not sure, it may just be common depression. I have major moodswings, I get angry over trivial things and after that first initial flash of anger I get so sad I start crying. The sadness lasts anywhere from a few minutes to a month, and its a I don't know what I'm going to do, I'm worthless kind of sadness. Then I wake up and I'm happy again, even when I have stuff I know I should be worried about, like how I'm going to meet my bills, whether or not I can keep my car from being repo-ed, whether or not people like me. I don't get it. I can't seem to control the sadness or anger, and my emotions always feel so extreme. Any Ideas anyone?
Oh, a couple of years ago I was prescribed some antidepressants, but other than make me yawn a lot and question every single emotion I felt, they didn't do much.

anything's possible. so it could be bipolar disorder. if you're having extreme mood shifts, you might fit right into the category.

its nothing to be ashamed of though. here, try going to this site... http://www.bipolar.com/

it's a site i worked with before for psychology projects on the matter and it's very helpful to study the disorder. hopefully, it will help you better understand what the disorder is.

and going to a psychologist can never hurt. maybe it would be best to talk about these things in person with a professional. i'm not a big believer in anti-depressents (unless absoultey necessary) so that's why you should just go to a psychologist since they can't prescribe medicine.

they can defintely help you sort this out better. and best of luck

People change, go through phases, or find different things interesting/boring. You need to accept that and try to look at it as a learning experience. THere could be a chemical imbalance, but that's not the cause, that's the symptom. You should be able to fix the problem on your own.

First- get healthy- get off of any drugs, alcohol, caffeine that may be altering your brain physiology and try to get to an ideal weight (if you're not already). Exercise and eat right- get all of your vitamins!

Second- Talk to people. Make sure that you're not holding anything back, but that you are aware of your feelings and able to communicate them to people

Third- Make sure you're breathing normally throughout the day and sleeping well at night. If either of these things gets out of whack, it could make you feel like you're losing it or becoming depressed.

Fourth- challenge yourself. The tricky thing about depression is that it will hit you even if you are doing healthy things. If you don't stimulate your brain and challenge yourself, you will lose the impetus to love life.

I would try all of these things before you go pay money to get the same advice or spend more money on pharmaceuticals that could do damage. If you're the type that needs a cure in a pill, look into http://www.amelior4life.com - studies show it's dramatically effective at curing depression and has minimal side effects.

Good luck- and remember- don't worry about it- that may only make your condition worse! It's not just you- changes are normal!

Everyone goes through very difficult times. It's so easy to let the things that surround us drag us down and destroy us.

Try not to feel that way. You need to look at your life and see what you can do to take the pressures off. Maybe you need to move, move in and share an apartment, rent a house and rent out a part of it, etc. etc.

You mentioned you have worries, so try to ease those burdens somehow. You can never find answers in a pill. Everyone feels the way you do from time to time, but you will rise above those feelings when life picks up and you have better control, things are easier on you etc.

Sometimes it's a huge leap of faith we have to take to make those changes, but if you can live in a way that is more manageable for you, you should try and do that. That will free up your time, your mind, and you can use that for more productive things, even just getting out and having a night out and having some fun will do a world of good for you.

So just analyse your finances, the negative people around you, jobs, etc. etc. make a list so you can visually see your life on paper and see where you can make it better. You can you know. And reach out to others as sometimes just talking with people can make things a whole lot better. Good luck.

You didn't say how old you are? Also not to get to personal but do you have problems with your menstrual cycle or ovulation. Hormones wreck havoc on woman. When I was 18 I was diagnosed with poly cystic ovarian disease. It is where a cyst forms on your ovaries instead of an egg forming. I was like you. One min. I would be happy the next I would want to rip someones head off for no reason and then I would start bawling. I had no control over any of these emotions. They would happen in a split second. And like you said they could last just a second or for weeks. It was exhausting. Speak to our gynecologist and have him do an estrogen and progesterone level blood test on you. It could be something as simple as taking hormones replacement or if you have to much they also have meds for that. lol. Hope everything works out okay.

Well first of all just taking the medication alone without counseling wasn't very effective as you know.
But if you feel there is something else going on see a therapist for an evaluation and then you should be educated as to what you are dealing with and how to deal with your symptoms.
