We're not poor but we used to go around to the back of the bakery at the end of the day and grab a whole bag full of that day's bread. *laugh* it was really good!
Also, you can go to some charities and get them to give you a supermarket voucher or similar. I don't know where you are, but in Australia you could go to the 'good sammies' - the Good Samaritans.

Go to the grocery store--not fast food. You might be able to get a pack of bologna and a loaf of bread. You can feed yourself for a few days.

You could buy a box of Ramen for like 15 bucks and eat only that for the next two weeks. It's like a dollar a day.

For how long?
The least expensive food for the nutrition is rice. So buy some rice. The next least expensive is beans. If you buy rice and beans you can eat for probably several days on $2.00, but you have to cook them--not the dollars, the rice and beans.
