I had a sprained ankle, and so I couldn't catch it quick enough, and so it feel about three feet off my bunk bed to the ground. Now I have two whhite vertical lines across my screen, and now I can't play the laptop without the power cord charging it. Did I permanantly damage it? My laptop's a Toshiba, by the way, if that helps anyway.

I'm only 12, and I don't want to get screamed at by my parents that I already wrecked my laptop, after only nearly 2 years of using it. I really, really, need some help here.

It probably has been damaged by the fall (most laptops that are dropped do suffer some damage) and realistically it'll probably cost more to get it fixed then it would to just buy a new laptop.

Laptops tend to be able to survive a fall if they are in a good carrying case and some laptops are designed to be able to survive being dropped (though of course you have to pay extra for one of those, and I still make sure not to drop mine (I don't really want to know if it really can survive a fall)) but most laptops
aren't designed to survive a fall.

First of all, you are supposed to be at least 13 to be on yahoo answers, but, yes, you damaged the machine. Be prepared for a scolding! But hey, after 2 years, you needed a more powerful laptop anyhow. Try crying, maybe your parents will feel sorry for you and buy you a new one - or maybe santa will leave one for you.

no question about it, it's damaged... UNLESS.. your battery is damaged.. that has happened to me before. iv dropped my laptop once and it wouldn't turn on and i realized it was just the battery..

but there is more of a chance it is damaged .. talk to your parents.. maybe they have an extended warranty.
