We just got our report cards about 2 weeks ago. A bunch of my friends were like oh yeah im gonna go shopping, want to come with us? An di was like sure but i dont have any money.
They were like why not? we just got our report cards back. ANd i was like yeah i know what dose that have to do with money? thewere like well dont your aprents give you money for your good grades? and i was like no?

I never got paid for grades, but they were still expected. If I did really well, I was treated to dinner and a movie of my choice. If I screwed around and got bad marks, like I did when I was in 5th grade, and missed a bunch of homework's, then my parents made sure I did not sit down for a while. I am now a college and graduate school graduate.

I think a better question is; "Is rewarding your kids with money for good grades wrong?" and the answer is no. If you have some spare money to give to your child for doing well in school, by all means, do so. They work hard in school, it doesn't hurt them to give them a little money, as long as they don't spend it on inappropriate items.
You shouldn't feel bad if you don't get money, though. Some parents deem it unecessary, and that doesn't mean they're not proud of you. You get good grades for your own pride and satisfaction, not for ten or twenty dollars.

I never used to give my children money for good grades because I thought it did not reward effort which is important too. What if you tried your very best and it wasn't reflected in your grades should you be punished for trying your best but it wasn't enough for an A.I give my grandson ( with my daughter's consent) a small gift of money at the end of the year if he has shown he has worked hard and made improvements in his work.I've made it quite clear that this gift of recognition is for effort. He has done quite well this year and each report card has shown steady improvement. He has had an amazing year so far The amount of money has not increased over the last five years but his effort has.Sometimes we all need to have our effort acknowledged.

Good for you! You understand that no matter what, doing your best and getting your education is important, no matter what the immediate reward right now. My parents always expected us to do our best at school. We never got paid for grades. If report cards came out and we'd been doing our best, they'd take us out for dinner, maybe a movie, but it was something as a family.
Keep up the great job!

No. Some things in life you have to work for yourself not for some reward. You should be getting good grades no matter what.
