How else can we explain his tremendous success when it comes to the horrifically liberal media downplaying certain characteristics of Bush while it never failed to point out similar "faults" while Clinton was (running for) president. For example:

1) Clinton was ridiculed as a "Bubba" and "Billy Boy" the hick, while Bush's "southern" background was portrayed by the liberal media as being modestly charming and down home. How else do you explain Bush's winning over of the media other than his ingenius ability to charm and manipulate even his enemies? (Because the goverment and media being in cahoots with each other would sure be a nutty conspiracy theory).

2) Bush's use of marijuana, coke, and alchohol comsumption is barely mentioned by the media (unless it's comedy shows), while Clinton faced non-stop ridiculed that he "never inhaled" when he was younger.

3) Clinton's going abroad to England to study in order to avoid Vietnam was also covered by the media non-stop, while Bush's going AWOL on his cozy position in Texas was relegated to conspiracy sites and (much later) 60 Minutes—which resulted in the firing of Dan Rather and the breaking of his contract.
4) Clinton’s handling of the situations in Waco and with Elian Gonzales received a lot of media scrutiny, while Bush’s keeping American and world relief out of Katrina (while bringing in the Federal government in to keep Americans from freely finding relief for themselves outside of the disaster area) is never mentioned much less delved into—except by alternative or foreign news sources?

There are many more examples, which leads me back to my original question: is Bush a genius? Is this why he never has to explain anything to the American people no matter how low his approval ratings are compared to Clinton (and without ever being accused of being arrogant by the liberal media)?

Not by the mainstream news, there isn't. By alternative news sources, cable TV comendy shows, Youtube videos, and by us on Y/A.

It's the voice of "The People" that you hear harshly criticising Bush--on the Net and on alternative sites (which are very popular). Yet the mainstream media has shown much restraint when it comes to criticizing Bush, don't you think?

Is Bush's genius the reason why the liberal media rather cover stories about Paris Hilton, the latest diet news, internet crimes, and other commercial junk rather than the REAL news that would garner much higher ratings/interest like any war coverage has (like during Vietnam, for example)? How is Bush able to so shrewdly manipulate his liberal enemies into sacrificing profit in order to spare Bush such bad publicity? Why is the liberal media’s coverage on the war so sanitized today compared to the past? Doesn’t the media usually THRIVE on “sensationalism” and “shock value?”

Hon, I think you've been watching some other country's television for the last seven years, because it has been a non-stop critique of his arrogance and obtuse incompetence.

As for the incessant need to compare Bush to prior presidents, while I think that it is only natural to use his predecessors to determine benchmarks of presidential competence, his record speaks for itself. In most ways that matter, he has been a predictable failure.

Bush's genius is his (and his handlers ability) to manipulate people like the one calling itself "Sleek and Sexy' who answered your question.

The media has reported most of King George's high crimes, misdemeanors and lies but, nowdays, most people have cable tv and that is where they get their news. Cable news is entertainment, it's not news. Presenting the news died with the advent of the internet, the retirement of Walter Cronkite and the creation of corporate media.

You seem to be someone who digs around to find out what's really happening in the world. Good for you. I just hope there are enough of us doing this to be able to overcome the ones out there who are still brainwashed.
One parting shot: Don't blame the Republicans for everything that has happened. The Democrats are just as guilty and maybe even more so. Does anyone out there know that firemen in New York state are being directed by Homeland Security to investigate the libraries of homes they enter and report on "subversive" or anti-american books? It's being put in place in New York first then is expected to go nationwide.

Bush is no dummy but he is near the bottom in IQ compared to other presidents. His success rests on the low IQ of the average voter. People are the same the world over; Hitler was elected to power, you know. Bush shares a trait common to many people: he sees what he wants to see regardless of evidence. Bush is not an effective leader, his handlers are running the government, but they are not able to adequately control him.

with Bush... there are SO MANY valid criticisms... the media never really gets around to digging for the "dirt"...

they had to dig for Clinton and he wasn't doing anything else wrong (for the first 5 years) so they made a big deal out of what little they had...

we can look at the approval ratings and see what people think of Bush and Clinton... and who's mishaps were worse...

According to some Americans, Bush looks and thinks like a monkey. Thus, he is not a genius.

You are one messed up Liberal. Clinton did avoid the draft. Clinton took a hit, but he didn't inhale. Clinton committed Adultery in the White House while he was President. Clinton had a chance to take Osama Bin Laden out. While he was the President. Clinton is a hick, hill Billy boy, Bubba. State proof that Bush did drugs. You can't because you are living in your own ding bat world. Talking nonsense junk. Were you one of the doper smoker babies? You need to learn history and facts before you go pointing the finger. You sound like a total fool.
