Okay, so I'm in the 8th grade, and I go to a British School in America, and it's my first year there. All my teachers are British.

Since the end of September, I was diagnosed with Epilepsy.

My Spanish teacher, who is English, is the teacher I feel most comfortable with. She's young, and really nice and supportive and stuff. I trust her sooo much and she's affectionate and motherly.

She says that if I EVER need to talk to her about anything, that I can talk to her whenever.

Since I've started having my seizures, the kids in my class have been making fun of them (there are a total of 4 kids in my class, us 3 girls and one boy).

And I couldn't take it anymore, and randomly I found that I'm most comfortable with my Spanish teacher, so I told her.

She even offered to talk to the class about the kind of Epilepsy I have. She'll be doing that on Monday.

So my question is:

Is it normal for a girl of my age to have a close relationship with a teacher I trust, and be able to talk to her about stuff that it's hard to talk to other people (friends my age, friends older and family) about?

Thanks a ton!

I really need the advice and input!!!

Oh, yeah.
When I was in high school, I was much more comfortable with my teachers than with other kids my age. I had a couple favorite teachers throughout the years that I really opened up to, and went to for advice and counsel.
The only problem with having teachers as your friends is that they don't remain your friends throughout the years. Once you graduate, or move on to the next year/class, the relationship tends to die out, and you're left without someone close to talk with.

Good luck with your education and your condition.

Teachers have gotten some bad press lately, a few bad apples who have crossed lines (mainly female/male or male/female).

However, teachers make great mentors, and it is so nice she has offered to talk to the class on your behalf.

It just goes to prove that there are caring adults out there who teach because they love to teach.

It's nice you felt you could trust her. You needed to tell someone.

No.. it's totally normal.

Every woman teacher I know, that I talk to, always says "Talk to me if you need anything"

The fact that you do have a teacher there to support you through your epilepsy is awesome...

Don't get self-conscious about it, she's just comforting you through hard times...

It's perfectly fine to be close to your teachers. It's good to have a mentor. If you get along better with 'grownups' it's not a bad thing. It just shows you are perhaps a bit more mature.

Normal, unfortunately no. Most Teachers in the US don't care enough about their students. Be grateful that you have the education you have.

Yes. Some teachers are only there to teach, but others are there to be your friend. My 4th grade teacher was like that. : )
