Put a piece of paper in between the door frame and the door near the bottom, when they walk in the paper will fall, if they see it they can just put it back, but the paper is just a diversion, put a stick of mechanical pencil lead in one of the doors hinges at an angle to where the lead breaks if you open the door, and even if the intruder noticed the broken lead, they won't know exactly where you put it. If that doesn't help, then whoever is trying to get in your room is way smarter than the average Joe. If you can't get the lead at an angle to where it will break that's fine, just make sure that it will at least fall if the door is opened. I say this because the lead is so thin that it can be seen on the ground before even opening the door, and if you see that the paper was in place and the lead has broken or fallen, that is an indication that someone was in your room and didn't want you to know, in that case you need to check all your belongings and that everything is in place.

I used to live in a place where that was a problem.
I found that a small piece of transparent tape adhered to the top corner of the door & door frame, is almost invisible but you can tell immedietly if the door has been opened while you were away.
Just close the door and stick it to the door so that it also is stuck to the doorframe, way up at the top where nobody is likely to see or notice it. Make sure it is pressed down really good so that it is transparent. Don't use a big piece, or they might see it flapping after the door is opened. Use just enough to cover the gap & stick to both halves. If you return & it isn't still stuck you know somebody has been in there.

Hidden cameras would be best, but they can be expensive. Maybe try putting something interesting in plain view, like a notebook that looks suspiciously like a diary or a specific amount of pocket change. you can put it in a very specific place and see if it has been moved at all when you come back, or in the case of the pocket change you can also count it to see if it's all there. Maybe leave a bunch or quarters and a dollar bill or two, something small enough that it doesn't matter if you lose it, but large enough so that someone else might be tempted to take it. What might also work is positioning a hair from your head in an exact place on the interesting object, and if the hair isn't on there when you come back, it most likely will have been moved.

I used to love doing this to my room when I lived at home. My parents also went into my room so I memorized how I placed everything. I would place everything in my room strategically.
A small item like a toothpick, a feather, a magnet are good items to place around your room inside drawers, on books, etc. Place them a certain way so you'll know if they've been moved.
A fun idea is to put vaseline or something underneath your drawer handles. Haha, they'll be in for a surprise when they try to go through your stuff!
EDIT: A fun idea is to leave out a journal filled with fake journal entries all about having sex and doing drugs. The last page can say something like "By the way, mom and dad, this is a joke! Stop going through my stuff!"

You could always just put a book standing on its spine fairly close to the door. That way if they open it too much it will fall over and they probably won't even notice. Other ideas include water buckets over the door (though somewhat less subtle) and video cameras. Um.... I guess you could also use like a baby monitor type thing hidden in a slightly open desk drawer because no ones every entirely quiet.... Besides that, I have no idea.

If your door is closed when you're gone and not in it, then put a piece of scotch tape at the top of the door jam (where the door meets the trim when it is closed). If you see that the tape is no longer attached to both the door and the trim, then someone has opened the door to your room.
If your door is not closed when you're gone, then place a few small pieces of scotch tape on the floor near the entrance of your room (sticky side up). If they are gone when you return to your room, chances are someone stepped on them as they trespassed into your abode!
May seem tacky, but it has worked for me.

Put a piece of scotch tape on the outside of the closed door. That's the best and easiest way to see if someone's been in there. The tape will come apart when the door is opened.

just some ideas off the top of my head
1.put a piece of clear plastic tape at the bottom of your door, attached to the frame and door, if the seal is broken, obviously someone opend the door
2. if you want to see if you paper work or some such are being moved around, put something on top of it, such as a penny, have the image facing in a certain position, memorize it, if it is in a different position when you come back.... this works for a lot of things, shirt in a certain position in the closet etc....

I place a tiny piece of paper up in the upper most corner of the door hinge as I exit the room and if fallen upon returning home (very tiny) I will know someone has accessed the room.

Take a piece of hair and tie it accross your door way when you go out. If some one enters your room, they'll break the hair. (Wow... I read too many Stephen King books. "Misery:, anyone?) Seriously, though, that is something no one would expect (except maybe avid horror readers), but I would experiment with it a bit before relying on it.
