How do you know how many grams?

3 oz is about 75 grams of water.. so 75/3 is about 25 grams.. :) 3 parts to 1. and you have 3 OUNCES of water.. whats 1/3 of that? ONE ounce. You are overthinking this.

That one's easy. Your ratio is 3:1. That means if you have three ounces of water (avoirdupois*) you'll need 1 ounce (avoirdupois*) of salt.
*a system of weights based on a pound of 16 ounces or 7,000 grains
You can divide 7,000 by 16 to find out how many grains of salt is in one ounce.
