I'm thinking of pasting French themed pictures on large canvas and framing it or something. But I don't want it to look so... "I-did-this-back-in-Elementary-school".

Are there certain things I can do in two weeks time?

Keep in mind I have to print it with a regular printer.
Is there a certain texture I can make the pictures so it doesn't look so generic. Or a certain way to cut? Anything to help make the idea better.

Unless you have another idea, do tell.

Something someone would be happy to get and look like there was effort put into it.

What if you buy a plain tote bag or shirt from the fabric store and paint your own Eiffel Tower on it? It's an easy line drawing - time consuming but not difficult.

You could put together a scrapbook-type recipe book (use the mentioned Eiffel tower on the cover) with well known yet easy french recipes like coq-au-vin, salad nicoise etc. There are stacks of sites - just google french recipes or french food. A nice font to use is actually called "French Script".

Sounds like a nice gift idea. For gifts for the kitchen, you can do Italian foods, or breads (baguettes?).
Or Italian architecture for a living room or bedroom, etc.
