I don't believe they had nerds in mind when they made these movies. Everyone has a different taste in movies. I hated Harry Potter, but enjoyed Lord of the Rings. I haven't seen the Golden Compass yet, and probably won't until it comes out on DVD.

Are you nuts or what?
The Lord Of THe Rings is the greatest achievements in the 20th century in the entertainment sector. It is one of the top grossers of all time in movies. The book is something that you takes completely inside the world. Once you start reading it ,you wouldn't want to leave the book until you have finished it. Its the ultimate book that will ever be written by anybody. I suggest you read the book . Please read the book before watching the movie becuz then you wont enjoy both.
If you've done that then i think you dont want to accept anything is good tthat is related to books or it simply goes above your head. In both the cases its your fault loser, there's nithing wrong with either the movie or the book. If you want to download the ebook for Free download it from the following link:

the LORD OF THE RINGS was voted in many polls as the most important book of the 20th century. That's a lot of 'nerds' by your estimation.
I'd rather be a 'nerd' anyway, rather than some illiterate, dim-witted, beer-swilling, leching oaf--the kind I see staggering about pubs & clubs (because they are so infantile that's all that can entertain/amuse them). They are the ones who really need to 'get a life'.

Nerds? I suppose you would rather watch what ? Rambo or some other mindless movie. These movies you have mentioned are some of the greatest cinematic achievements of our time. Or are they just to complex for you to follow?

Because movie studios like making money, and lets face it more people are going to see the so called 'nerdy' films than will go and see 'Brokeback Mountain' or 'The Lakehouse'. I don't consider myself a nerd and yet i loved the films you mentioned, if you don't like them no one is making you go see them, but that is your loss.

These movies are made for everybody. Just because the people you call "nerds" like them means nothing.

I suggest you see idiocracy and realize that you're part of the problem.
We need more nerds willing to read incredibly inventive and imaginative stories. We need people who will WRITE those stories.
