If verlander doesn't keep it, I will be incredibly shocked. He is the better player and D-Train only has a couple years experience on him.

It will still be Verlander. I have heard a rumor that the Tigers might trade Willis to the Mets, so Willis might not play for the Tigers. However, it is a rumor. Even if Willis plays for the Tigers, Verlander will keep #35.

Usually you don't see a player give up the number he's wearing unless someone better who also wears it comes along.
I'm not too sure Willis is so much better than Verlander, if at all. I'd think Willis gets a new number

If a HOF caliber player was coming to the team, who wore that number, I say Verlander would give up his number out of respect. With that being said, I believe Willis will have to look for another number.

Verlander SHOULD keep HIS number. Just because another pitcher comes waltzing in doesn't mean he should forfeit his trademark number. Verlander will be donning the # 35 throughout the 2008 campaign!

I really dont think so, I think that Verlander being a veteran on the team does not have to. If you are referencing why Robbie Cano gave up his number to Clemens last year on the Yankees, remember Clemens had already played for the Yankees

justin verlander will defenitly keep the number
when someone gets traded to another team and someone has their nuumber already, they usually pick a new one. Unless Verlander is willing to give it up, it is his to keep
Willis will likely go with something like 53 (35 backwards)

Dontrelle will have to choose another.Justin is OUR star right now--whether Willis can win for us remains to be seen( I hope he returns to his 22 win form again so Justin,Bondo,Nate and Kenny don't have to pull all the weight) ps.Met fans ->don't think Dombrowski will trade Willis for your leftovers--go buy your own pitcher if you don't want to make a fair trade!
