Exist and survive are two different things. The self motivates us above our instinctual needs. But to promote our existence we do need the ego I think.

Ego is like most indulgences, they are less harmful in moderation.

The ego serves the purpose of self-preservation. The instinct to preserve the self is found throughout the animal kingdom.

It is the abuse of ego, within ourselves and upon others, that we could probably live with out.

Ego is the improper identity of human beings; while human beings take in an identity, it is their ego speaking. it somewhat is ridiculous (and just about impossible) for absolutely everyone yet those on the brink of their lives to stay without their ego. dwelling without the ego too quickly will carry approximately a downfall of society-- in Hindu philosophies, there are diverse suited targets for humanity: accountability, exhilaration, fulfillment and liberation. the 1st 3 require am ego; it somewhat is barely the final that does no longer. There are no longer any obvious relationships between the ego and the prana as properly the certainty that to narrate oneself to prana to the self is to narrate ego to the self for concerning the self to the prana is an identity. In some sects of Hinduism, the Kundalini Shakti is declared to hold forth liberation by making use of destroying the ego.
