Any signs?
Some people say they can sense it from a mile away.

I notice low self esteem by the way people talk - if they're trying to prove something to me it signals that they need approval or if they lie to make a situation and/or themselves seem better. Usually women who wear tight or outrageous outfits are crying out for attention and approval and love. (Not all though!) Or I've noticed men who kind of hunch over when they walk and laugh nervously and peek at people.

Posture is one of the first things that I notice about people. It's a clear sign of a low self-esteem. People who have high self-esteem can value themselves, carry themselves well, care about how they look, care about how they speak and care about others in a way that people who have a low self-esteem do not. So the first thing that I look for is posture and slumping shoulders, not standing up straight. I am not talking about if you are kicking back, lying on your sofa, reading the newspaper. But if you are out in the world, the way you walk and the way you hold yourself are strong indicators of that unconscious self-esteem.

Low self-esteem doesn't necessarily have anything at all with depression. Somebody with low self-esteem will probably exhibit signs of insecurity, shyness, and seem withdrawn. They may also be introverted, and unsocial (not the same as anti-social). They may feel like they just don't "fit in" and that they "don't belong" when interacting with a group of people.

Well they operate out of a fear of rejection and as a result are typically unassertive in their behavior with others. They are fearful of conflict with others and hungry for approval.

Physically I notice people with poor self-esteem close themselves off, folding their arms and legs, making the body small. Basically taking a submissive stance. Turning the chin and head down and also avoiding looking the other person in the face (staring is a sign of aggression).

There are no signs of low self esteem in general but in a lot of them you can fell realizing that life means nothing, following their Friends, even when they are bad Friends.

Some people think that people that are sad has low-self-esteem but in reality most sad people are not.
