I wash all my clothes, towels and everything like this....my laundry smells soooo good if I do say so myself..~wink~
use a few glugs (about 4-5) of white vinegar, about 3 glugs of lemon scented pine-sol and gain laundry soap ( I love the one with the purple in the label...its called Gain, A touch of softness) Then I add a dryer sheet (also Gain scented, made by Bounce) to the dryer and I always get compliments on how good I smell...and I rarely wear perfume...its gotta be the clothes! It should work for your cleaning rags too!
Good luck!

You can use detergent boosters like oxyclean (about the cheapest I have found is Boraxo).
When you wash your rags, stop the washer just after the agitator starts and let them soak for a little while then start the washer again and add fabric softner or baking soda to the rinse cycle.
If you use dryer sheets, put 1 in the dryer.
You can also mix up a solution of liquid softner and water in a spray bottle and spray a rag with it and throw it in the dryer with the rest of the rags.
Boraxo may be found in the laundry section with the powdered bleach, same with a large box of baking soda.

I use bleach in addition to laundry detergent. I've heard oxyclean works well too, but I like that bleach will kill the bacteria found in kitchens. Also I usually wash them twice, the second time with only detergent so they don't have a bleachy smell. If that doesn't get them smelling good try using a dryer sheet like Bounce for a fresh smell.

Try cleaning them in your dishwasher. Hot water kills bacteria. If not wash them alone and add the best detergent that you can find that has a great smell. Then add a fabric softener thats smells great too. I use snuggle. This should get them smelling good. But first try the dishwasher to kill all the bacteria of the rag.

I even have an old grotesque yellow towel that I ripped up into rags, that's what i exploit on my animal cages and messes, after which I wash them and whilst they arrive out of the wash i comprehend which of them they are, i'd discover it gross to apply on kinfolk products, even after dealing with the wash!

OdaBan from "Sam's Club" store works wonders on many, many things and this is one of them. Just soak them in the OdaBan and then wash in reg. wash cycle.
This product makes things smell so clean and fresh and kills germs too.
I love it and keep it on hand for everything. I put it in my was, I mop with it, I clean my counter tops with it and use it in my toilet bowl. It's great.

I always stick mine in with the whites which I put onto a 90Degree wash and they come out brand new and smelling off flowers... this also helps to kill any germies and gets any nasty smells out too..

Use bleach or oxyclean. If that doesn't work wash them alone after they've been soaked in degreaser like 409.
