Hello,I am thinking about buying a home instead of renting. I am a teacher in a revitalization area in NJ. I
know some of programs that help teachers significantly with the fees and the process. How and where should I start this journey? Should I contact these agencies or the Real Estate Agencies OR should I try another route?? Help!

A good Realtor will be familar with those programs.

However, here is the catch:

They are usually in neighborhoods with higher crime or of lower economic status. Thta is the reason the incentives are being offered.

Just something to keep in mind.

I would start asking your administration at school or your state teacher association.

You are wise to consider home ownership for the long term investment, tax shelter etc.

The programs will give you the guidelines and then you can choose the brokerage agent that you desire to work with.

Go with someone who has experience and its ok to interview a buyer agent.

A real estate agent may or may not know how to help you. Go directly to the broker of the real estate firm. They have the help for you.

Go to HUD.GOV, they sell their foreclosures to teachers at 50% of the sales price.

Good Luck!
