I wish I could take life for granite! Then I could get my counter tops done in my kitchen for free instead of thousands of dollars! (You mean "granted" my dear.)
I'm not understanding whether you're talking about "knowing" that things will stay the same - or stay, period. However, what you're describing is that you're involved in fantasy a lot.
If what you're doing is not adversely affecting your life, it is called "daydreaming" and is okay. It's a way of exploring alternatives to your life - or at least making it "interesting". However, if it is more and more difficult to know your true self from your fantasy selves or you like the fantasy more than reality, you should seek professional help as it could be a sign of something serious.
And remember: the only reason we're in this physical reality is to prepare us for the spiritual reality in which we will spend an eternity.

Over the years I've learned to take very little for granted. Even when things are going very well in my life, things can happen to change that, drastically.
Sure, we all sometimes daydream of having it all...but then we do a reality check, and know what is really happening in our present, and what is most likely ahead in our future.
Yes, I know what you mean about taking some steps backward to find yourself again...I've had to do the same, on numerous occasions. I've come to learn that the least we expect, the happier we will be when good things happen to us. Be well, and have happy holidays :)

The part I spent in the granite state (New Hampshire). If you take life for granite then you are in a granite state of your own mind. Get out of the state you're in.

Everyone imagines to a point but knowing reality from fiction is key. It's part of staying sane to float away a little every now and then. Too much reality and no fun will drive someone crazy. I try not to take basic aspects of life for granted as much as possible but it still happens.

I would use a small amount of "granite" too. A large piece is too heavy for me !!!!

You mean granted. I think young people do a lot..the older you get the more you learn to appreciate all there is in life.

(the word is "granted" not "granite...")
"Granite" is the mineral...
But to answer your question...
All of it...
I came from nothing...and I will return to nothing...
It's ALL...
"Taken For Granted..."
