Try watcing "The Killing Fields" and I think you will find it a little worse.

Pan's Labyrinth
Hornet's Nest~Most people wouldn't even consider this, but it's an action-adventure film that does show the toll the war took on children. They witness the execution of the people of their village then attempt to become Resistance fighters.
Forbidden Games (French)
Breaker Morant

I see others going with lengthier lists. I especially noted the mention of "The Day After", which is a brilliant, bleak, horrifying TV miniseries that should be shown more often~full length.
