is it really that serious? im sick of people getting offended over every-little thing. its a fiction movie for crying out loud!!! no one said you had to worship and praise the movie! "omg it was written by an atheist" ok, so what? im not really religious and you dont see me boycotting movies written by christians. people just cant be open-minded anymore..........

all im saying is..... to the people who actually have a problem with the movie and are with the boycotters: it's making you seem EXTREMELY ignorant.

Any "challenge" or questioning of the literal-bible-bound fanatics will generate a negative reaction from them, because they can't deal with the possibility that they might be wrong. Witness the reaction to "The DaVinci Code" and the TV program, "The Pagan Jesus". These people belong to the "My mind is made up, don't confuse me with facts - or better interpretations."

The issue is that the book upon which the movie is based was written by an atheist and in the last book a character kills God. The books also contain negative references to the Catholic church and religion in general. The reason people are making a big deal about the movie, even though the atheism is more subtle in the movie than the books, is because people don't want the author of the books to get a ton of money from the movie since the producers used his story, and they don't want their kids to want to read the books after enjoying the movie.
