According to Hillary, such fiery opposition was nonexistent only seven or eight years ago which, incidentally was when she and her husband occupied the White House. So what brought about this change? Without missing a beat, she postulated that the reason is, of course, the worsening economy under President Bush, which has made Americans, when looking for jobs, feel competitive pressure from those who breached the border.
Funny, I work but I still don't want illegals crossing the borders or getting into the country without going through the legal process. I see it as a security and safety issue. This is not only about Hillary - I don't agree with any candidate that is blind on the immigration problem.
What do you think? Opinions please.

Well, the big difference between now and seven or eight years ago is: the attacks of 9/11/01. This made people aware of the terrorist threat and the need to control who comes into the US. Obviously most illegal border crossers aren't terrorists, but some are. We have a different consciousness now.

For me it's several things. I wonder how the country can support so many new immigrants at the same time.
Illegal immigrants without health care have to use emergency rooms to get help. An emergency room is an expensive form of health care - doctor's offices are more cost effective for non-emergencies.
Also, illegals that do not have taxes withheld are still using services like roads and schools.
Also, having porous borders makes it easier for terrorists and criminals to easily go back and forth.
Most conservatives, like me, are not in favor of deporting every illegal immigrant. Sure, that's what you'll hear or position being described.
However, my question to someone that is against enforcement is to ask how many illegals is too many? Should we move the entire population of Mexico to the US because living conditions are bad there?
I don't get much competition from illegals in my career as a programmer. However, I also do not want to be paying higher taxes and insurance rates so that people can get their gas cut cheaply.

Don't worry, senor, the 700 mile fence, built predominantly by illegals working for American companies, along a 2600 mile border will keep 'em out. The reason that illegal immigration is barely given lip service is that there are as many rich Democrats who need cheap labor as rich Republicans. It's hard to rape an entire country without $1.75 an hour workers

Don't get me started. I'm tired of feeling like the citizens of our country can't get the help they need because the immigrants are getting it all. We need to take care of our own people first. I have a friend who teaches third grade. She's had students who didn't know English--in American schools. If that's not a problem, I don't know what is.

You should worry about the illegal aliens even if you have a good job. That's because you are not immune to losing your job to someone who is willing to work for only a fraction of what you're making.

Your answer is most telling.
You ask: "If you have a good job you don't care about illegals. . .
You state: "Funny, I work but I still don't want illegals
You don't state that you have a good job. You don't state that you are wealthy . . . happy in your work, etc.
You answered your own question. But you contradicted the "answer" you wrote into your original question.
