Who cares what he thinks of Catholics? What's he going to do, mass-convert everybody to Baptists?
I'm just saying - judge the guy on his policies and his character, and skip the character assassination.

cynical, are you saying he supports rape? What exactly did Huckabee do wrong? People are paroled all the time, is he supposed to be able to predict the future?

When a candidate is doing well he/she gets attacked by those who aren't doing well. As the governor said, "If you're getting kicked in the rear, that must mean you're in the front" (paraphrased, of course)

He's been getting a free pass because he wasn't considered a serious. Now that he's in the lead he's wearing the bulls-eye. So everyone's shooting at him.
As governor of Arkansas I thought he started out pretty good. I especially liked his "Tax me more" plan. It was for people who didn't think taxes were high enough, they could fill out a form and pay more taxes. I'd like to see that implemented on a national level for all those who think taxes need to be higher they imediately start paying more taxes.
I wasn't going to support his run for national office because I thought his last term as governor he was a busy body, he shut down church sponsered bingo games, that got a lot of us Catholics upset. But his support of the "Fair Tax" has changed my mind I intend to donate to his campaign.
The "Fair Tax" could do more good for our country than all of the other proposals by all the other canidates combined.

There are probably as many reasons to dislike Huckabee (or any other candidate) as there are people who do so. Personally, I have no use for preachers; a President must act on facts, not mythology.

Huckabee's been WAY behind for most of the election...
now he's making big moves... and you'll start hearing a lot about him...
the bad stuff will start coming out... like this:
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/12/08/huckabee_wanted_to_isolate_aids_patients/
and I'm pretty sure, there's more where this came from...
but he would still be better than Bush... granted..

He helped in the early release of a rapist who then killed a woman. Do a little research. Also, he is a populist and soft on illegal immigration. There is nothing fiscal conservative about him yet he runs as one. I don't care what he says about Catholics (though I'm Catholic) he is entitled to his opinion. But he is not a nice guy, I'm concerned he is going to be too soft on crime.
Edit- He PUSHED for the release of the rapist. How can you not know that a rapist would go and rape again? Huh? This isn't rocket science, you know.

Huckabee is problematic due to his support of amnesty for illegal immigrants and his rather Liberal record of pardons while Governor. He pardoned more convicted criminals than the three neighboring states combined.
That makes his judgment suspect as well as his common sense.
But he is a very nice man.

It is not hate. It is his record in Arkansas, especially, the paroling of some very bad criminal who committed serious crimes, rape, murder on his watch. He might be too nice, and not tough enough to be President.

I certainly like him a whole lot more than Rudy! To be honest, next to Ron Paul, Huckabee is like the "cleanest" (in my opinion) of the Republican bunch. I haven't heard many bad things about him. And how can you not love the Chuck Norris endorsements?
The only thing that bothers me is that I deplore the "religious right" who wants to infuse their brand of Christianity into our political system. That rhetoric is way scary to me!
