hey all.

3 months before my wedding my doctor doubled me up on birth control pills. August 5th I stopped taking the pills half way into a pack. I am now almost three months pregnant :)

I was wondering... if since I didn't get my period for 3 months were my eggs so to speak backed up and when they were released and I got pregnant... could there have been more than one egg fertilized? My husbands dad and cousins are twins, I have twin cousins, my grandma and cousin were also pregnant with twins. Twins would be amazing... so we are just wondering if the BC could have helped us with that.

I know this was the most stupid question but I wanted to ask.

take care!!

well this is the thing, the pill surpresses ovulation, when you stop the pill ovulation should resume as it normally would. So NO, the pill could not have made you ovulate more eggs. If by any chance you are carrying twins, it's pure luck or genetics! Identical twins are by chance and fraternal twins run in families. But by now you should get an ultrasound soon and they will see how many are there! good luck!!

The fact that your husband's family has twins will have no bearing on you having twins, as it is all dependent on you having ovulated more than one egg, and has nothing to do with him. But since you also have twins in your family, you do have a higher chance. If you or your mother IS a twin, you have a 1/17 chance of having twins, vs. the 1/90 chance for everyone else, but since your grandmother was pregnant with twins, I think you would have a higher chance than just the general population.

I don't think the pill "backs up" the eggs. At least I hope not because I just stopped taking the pill after a year and got pregnant right away. i wouldn't know how to deal with twins! But good luck and congrats either way!

not stupid, but no, eggs won't "stack up". Genetically you sound more prone to twins, but only time will tell

No they won't back up... but you are genetically wired for the possibility of twins! GL!!
