The holocaust went after all Jews because they were Jews. Lynchings in America went after specific targets, usually Black, and usually where it was thought that a crime had been committed by the victim of the lynching. Sometimes, it was to serve as a "warning" to Blacks to "mind their place".

Lynchings were never meant to eradicate an entire population. The holocaust was meant to do exactly that.

The lynchings were spur of the moment (usually) murders carried out by citizens & never officially supported by the state. The holocaust was a calculated policy carried out by the state.
