No! I am a teacher....and I don't want to be one. Luckily, I'm still young so I am able to change careers without having to retire when I'm 90.

I can give you a huge list, but I'll try and keep it short:
-Teachers get very little respect and everyone is always pissed at you for something...admin, parents, other teachers, even the kids.
-Parents and children hold your career in their hands. If one chooses to make a big enough deal out of something....you can easily lose your job.
-Testing. And NCLB...can we please elect someone in this next one who is not a complete moron?!
-Hours...sure, we get summers and holidays off....but we are at the schools often longer than 8 hours a day, we grade papers and plan lesson at night and on the weekends, and we have to work around parents' schedules for conferences and ARDs.
-Yes...the pay is awful. Teachers hardly get raises and by the time you make enough to actually pay your bills...you are already sucked into the 80 year retirement rule.
-You begin to realize how short we will be on doctors, physicists, politicians, and the like when we grow old. You wouldn't want to trust the majority of students in a typical class to diagnose your disease or run our government.
-Inclusion. I'm not even going to go into details b/c I'm sure someone will find it offensive.
-Horrible parenting skills. If I ever did half of the things these kids get away with...my mother would have killed me. There are some dangerous, disrespectful, no-good kids out there.

Okay, I'll stop. If all I had to do was go to work and teach the children....it would be a wonderful job.

I wouldn't mind being a teacher.I use to want to be a teacher becuase I wanted to help kids learn history in a fun way like my teacher teaches us.Cause I know that some teachers make history boring. So i wanted to teach history in a fun way like my teacher. But now I'm not sure if i'm going to a teacher I'll just let destiny deciede. But i wouldn't ming being a teacher. Its an ok job.But i sorta don't want to be a teacher because of the bad kids.how they cuz at there teachers and how they can be so rude.I would probaly lose my patience and probally start yelling back really bad.So i might want to be a teacher but i might not.I have alot of time to deciede.

I am a teacher and I am not paid minimum wage. But darn near close to it!

Being a teacher is not about money. It is about helping to change lives by educating. No better reward than when a student says; "thanks, that was a great lesson and helpful".

My mission is accomplished. Just remember, life is NOT about money. If you think that it is, you will be very disappointed in life.

I'm a substitute teacher and I love it. I love kids of all ages, and I like the spontaneity of the job. The pay sucks, but so are regular teachers salaries, and I have a lot less responsibility. No lesson plans, no grumpy parents, if the kids are terrible I don't go there again.

Being a teacher would be great.. but it's literally impossible to get by with what teachers make, especially if I plan on living where I want to/how I want to.

I'd love to either teach advanced placement English in high school, or be a college professor in philosophy, psychology or English.

As a nurse, I teach my patients about the medicines, healthy habits and disease prevention. I get a tremendous thrill when I know that I have reached someone and they get it. It is as if you have given them the largest chunk of gold in history. With this knowledge and information, their lives are changed forever. Teachers can truely make a difference. If you do what you love or are passionate about, the money will follow.

No, I would not like to be a teacher. Some of the children of today are way out of control. Besides dealing with children that are disturbing your class, you 'll have to deal with some of the parents that know their children are bad but they will come and take their anger out on you like you are mistreating their children. I know there are a need for good teachers, but I couldn't handle it. I don't have the patience to deal with it.

I used to love kids and thought of becoming a teacher at a point early in my life. Then I had my own kids, and started taking them to school. I think I will pass on taking that job. Kudos to the men and women who do it without losing their tempers. I'd get fired for tying the monsters in their desks and using duct tape to keep them quiet.

I am a high school teacher and love it very much. I started two years ago and plan on staying here for a while. I teach high school chemistry and physics.

The pay is not a matter for me. That's how much I love the job. Actually, I only make $35,000.
