No, I think it is really great to do things with your child. Not odd at all. Nice that she wants to hang out with you and especially great that you are setting a great example by taking her to an AA event. Good for you.

Not at all. What are the ages of the other respondents to this question?! Your daughter's only 15, so this is a good way to chaperone her, and it's like sharing a fun thing together that you'll soon be doing seperately when she's an adult.

My girlfriend and I went to Lollapalooza for three days with my daughter (16 and 17) and her boyfriend and we all shared the same hotel room for three days. There was no hanky panky. It was fun and his parents were happy there were adults looking out for their son. My daughter really appreciated the open attitude I had about trusting her and she and I continue to be close (she's in college now).

I think that taking your daughter to an AA dance helps her to realize and her date that you can have fun with out drinking. That's something that more of our teens need to learn!!! I just wouldn't do it a lot. IF you were going to take them to a play or Broadway musical would people still feel it was hincy?? I don't know. But to go out with your child and their friends (boy or girl) is done by more parents than would want to admit to.

I think you know the answer.I understand it's an AA dance and for that reason, it may not be cool. You know with the whole anonymity thing. It may not fly with the other people there. Also, it's just slightly weird. Your daughter might end up feeling weird about it but won't know what to say.
I'm going to say yeah, it's a tad too odd.

You want to take your daughter on a double date to an Alcoholics Anonymous dance and you wonder if this is strange. Do you really even have to ask???

AA as in Alcohol Anonymous?

And not really if its just a fun outing. If her and her bf are ok with it, and you guys have a good relationship, then go for it
Best of Luck!

as a 16 year old with a boyfriend, i'd find it very strange to have my mother on a "double date"
it just seems like an adult presence is an inhibiting factor not only for your daughter, but probably your daughter's boyfriend, putting them in an awkward situation
kind of like you're being too watchful or paranoid.

Not if you don't call a double date. Its just four people going to a dance. Otherwise its a little creepy.

Actually, I think that's kinda cool. It's nice that you and your daughter can bond on a social level as well as the standard parent/child level.
Kudos and have fun.

Yes. That is not right. The parent should be older responcible, not out partying with her 15 yr old daughter!
