its when woman are trying to get pregnant they go to a clinic and the sperm is taken from the man and inserted into the woman, "artificial" means something made not natural and "insemination" means insert.

It is when a woman goes to a sperm bank and chooses a man's sperm(in which she has never met in most cases) and they insert the sperm into her egg and then place the egg back inside. It's a fancy way to get pregnant and a lot of people who have trouble concieving result to this option. As in the husband takes his sperm and they take her egg and etc etc etc. It can be done by either parties and in both ways.

The man deposits his sperm in a cup... then it is processed in a lab. It is then cleaned and purified and condensed (meaning taking out all the extra stuff) and prepared for implantation in to a woman. It could be IVF, IUI, or going to a clinic to choose your artificial Dad! :)

wow, i am surprised you got so many ignorant answers!

anyway, most insurances only cover up to artificial insemination(IUI). This is when your partner ejaculates and they may or may not "wash" his sperm. Then they deposit his sperm directly into your cervix.

invitro is a lot more complicated. they actually remove an egg from the woman's ovary and fertilize it with sperm from her husband. once fertilized they place the fertilized egg into the uterus and hope it implants.

do some google searches you'll find tons of inromation.

depends what kind you are talkin about IVF is where they take sperm from the male and an egg from the female and insert sperm into the egg then they leave it to see if it fertilies if it does they then insert it back into the womens uterus and hope that it implants and she becomes pregnant but there are other forms such as GIFT and another which i am unsure of its best to google it or talk to a doctor if you want more information
