I agree with Keti and Makayo. Mr. Knox must have been a perfect sexist jerk.

If this is the John Knox I'm thinking of the quote was made in the 1780's. Wrong then- wrong now. Happy people serve each other with respect to the others feelings.

Well, considering the times in which he lived, and being the leader of the Protestant reformation, I would expect a statement of this kind. This was the attitude towards women in his time.

Fortunately, we have moved on about 500 plus years and if attitudes really haven't changed that much, women have.

We aren't taking anymore BS from the church or from the male population.

Sad maybe he has never loved either way ::
"Be careful if you make a woman cry, because God counts her tears. The woman came from the man's rib. Not from his feet to be walked on. Not from his head to be superior but from his side, to be equal. Under the arm to be protected and next to the heart to be loved"

"Perfect women cannot serve and obey imperfect men" - me

Adam goes to God and ask for a mate. God tells him, "I can make you a women who is perfect. She will obey your every order. She will look better with age and always smell as sweet as roses. She will never yell or scream and support your every action. She will stay by your side as faithful as a women should."

Adam says, "Wow. What do I have to do to get one of them!".

God replies, "You have to give me your right arm."

Adam sits back. Looks at his arm then looks up to God. Ponders a bit. Then says, "What can I get for a rib?"
