If you have a lease you do not have to move. When the house is auctioned the new owners should contact you regarding where to pay your rent and how to contact them. Examine your lease to be certain of your rights. Pay your rent or you can be evicted. Contact the mortgage holder and ask for information as to how and where to pay your rent.

Good luck!

You should continue to pay your rent. Until you receive an eviction notice, you don't have to move. Your landlord might redeem the place before the auction takes place or the new owners might want to honor your lease.

You cannot live there and not pay rent. I would recommend that you start cleaning out closets, just in case you do have to move. You will get at least 30 days notice to move.

You have no right to cancel your rent check if you are still living their. Dpeending on the state, you might be able to get your deposit back (if the landlord had to keep it in a segregated account. You can rely on your lease termsas to whether or not you must or can move

OK, you get a good slap from me for not paying your rent. This is probably one reason they are Bankrupt. As far as I'm concerned your position is zero because canceling that check was the act of a zero. You owe rent because you still live there. Pay your bills or your just another lowlife in my book.

First, I own 23 properties containing about 800 units.
The bad news is, your deposit may be lost.
Your lease is still valid though, no matter who owns the property.
I would think about cutting my loses and moving if I were you.

deposits lost, unless landlord is not a sleaze bag, are the new owners looking to move in or rent out? sometimes easier to keep good tenants than to evict, if you know what I mean. even if landlord is sleaze it's harder to get money back in small claims court than times worth, batten the hatches furl the sails and weather the storm, now your one of us!!

You need to move before you're evicted after the sale. You can probably kiss that deposit goodbye.
