It depends. If both partners work full-time, then they should share all responsibilties evenly. If just the husband works, then he should just have to bring home a paycheck and do more "manly" things around the house. I've been in both situations. I prefer the former where both spouses are equal in sharing responsibilities.

He should be well educated, have a good career that can support a family. He should be loving, kind, tolerant, patient, understanding, giving, selfless, honest, faithful, slow to anger and quick to forgive. He should have the same spiritual values, political views, interests and plans for the future. He shouldn't be involved in drugs or drinking too much.

Being each others best friend;-)

Having respect, love, trust, devotion and honesty between one another.

A man should know that his wife is equal, not his subroutine. That, Marriage needs two ppl to work at it for it to last. (not just a man who works)
That he need to respect his wife, and treat her they way he would want a man to treat his mother and sisters.

A women should know that her husband is not her ATM. That just like she wants to be told that she looks nice, or a thank you for cooking , cleaning, That her husband needs to know that he is working and is appreciated.

To be there and love and cherish and support you, to not cheat or hit or verbally abuse. The rest will come in time.
