How safe would it be to mail a cd inside a paper sleeve and inside a heavy Christmas card?

Would it be protected enough? Has anyone tried this?

You can send it like that just, make sure you write 'Hand Cancel" on it like on the front and back. To be positive it does not go through the machine take it to the Post Office and hand it to the clerk. They can stamp "Fragile" on it. Mention that you want it hand canceled. I 'm a mailman.....HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!! ;)
