I love the 80's songs in general!
And those are 2 of my favorite singers.
2 very strong women who did not "sell out".
They had their own style and I admire them for it.

No, you're not alone!

I grew up in the '80s, so this music was "fresh" for me. Pat Benatar, Patti Smith, Cyndi Lauper, Cher, Kiki Dee, Helen Reddy and others were huge.

Best of the best was HEART, fronted by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson. Ann Wilson just released a solo CD called "Hope & Glory". I wonder if I'm the only person in the Czech Republic who has a copy.

HEART showed women can be serious rockers. Their performance on WTTW's Soundstage was one of the most amazing performances I've ever seen.

Grace Slick was amazing. She had a record called "Welcome to the Wrecking Ball", which you can actually listen to online! I can't find that website right now, but you can listen to the title track below.

How about Deborah Harry of Blondie? She was (and still is) amazing.

I saw Cyndie Lauper as the into act for Cher. I had no idea she was so talented. The radio stations don't play much of her, and the loss is ours.

I even liked Bananarama and The Go Gos. Great music for fun at the beach.

LoL - nope, and it's funny you should ask, I was just listening to an old LP of Cyndi Lauper's "She's So Unusual" , last night, I introduced my 7 year old daughter to it, and of course, she loved the song "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". I also have some Pat Benatar and Joan Jett on vinyl albums. My mother gave me a turn table a few years ago and I've been collecting albums from the 70's and 80's ever since.

Pat Benatar kicks serious A$$! That debut album of hers just rocked! "Heartbreaker", "Hell is for Children", "Rated X", "If You Think You Know How to Love Me ..." and so on are all dynamite tracks. Cyndi Lauper on the other hand I could do without. The only thing I remember from her was "She Bop" which, okay, I may have danced to once (mind you, I'm sure I was drunk at the time ...).

No. Anyone who has heard the early Pat Benetar music knows how vibrant and memorable her songs are. Cyndi Lauper made less recordings, but was extremely popular in the 80's and had some very good songs.

I love them, but I grew up in the 80s. I think Cyndi Lauper is a genius trapped in a bimbo's body (actually that's just her media image).
