Steve, the Heisman Memorial Trophy is far and away "the" individual award to win... As John Lukacs from ESPN writes, "The Heisman long ago distanced itself not only from its prize peers in college football, but also from the America's Cups, Borg-Warners, Claret Jugs, Cy Youngs and the innumerable gold medals, silver Tiffany bowls and Waterford crystals of the sports world."
Hawaii's season has indeed been something special, and Brennan was the best of the 22 starters there... but the competition simply wasn't anything near what Tebow faced this season.

Because the criteria states that it goes to the most outstanding player (regarless of record) he was clearly the most outstanding player in college football. He ran and threw for a combined 51 touchdowns and is the only player to ever run and throw for 20 tds. He has the highest completion percentage out of all the heisman winners. He has played well pretty much every week against top notch competition (UF is #6 in schedule strength). The other canditates all had notable bad games like McFadden running for only 43 yds on 17 carries against Auburn and having a midseason slump. Daniel struggled mightily against Oklahoma and unlike Tebow and McFadden hasn't play a lot of tough opponents. Brennen has had an outstanding year, but missed a few games due to injuries + he played a cupcake schedule the entire season. When your toughest game is against Washington it doesn't say very much.

colt brennan sucks. if he played an sec schefule his team would be 7-5 and brennan would throw for 2000 yrDds 17tds and 18 ints. tim tebow had the best season out of anyone in the nation. brennan shouldnt have even have been invited to new york. tebow had more tds (total), less ints, more rushing yrds, better passer rating, played one of teh hardest schedules in the nation, and is the toughest qb ive seen in college in all my yrs watching, he played a fantastic game again FSU witha broken hand! GO GATORS!!!!! YOU DESERVED IT TIM!!!!!!!!

When Brennan leads his team to a victory over Georgia and Hawaii shares the Championship with either LSU or Ohio State the people who vote for the heisman will realize they screwed up again. But like I said in my question I guess u got to lead your team to a stellar 8-3 record to win the heisman these days. Go Warriors

the Heisman means nothing anymore its a joke tebow shouldn't have won the award plain and simple. Yeah he had a good year but there 2 players better than him McFadden and colt. So what if colt played nobody they were undefeated and his number are outstanding no matter what. Colt is way better than tebow colt is a QB not an athlete who plays QB.

If Brennan played in the SEC or the Big Ten he wouldn't have had the numbers he has. It came down to McFadden and Tebow. I would have gave the nod to McFadden though.

Well, Colt Brennan and Hawaii should definitely be playing a BCS bowl and probably the championship...I don't care what conference they're in...They're undefeated...I think Darren McFadden probably should have won the Heisman...
To answer your question, yes...To me, the Heisman is just a media popularity contest...

The Heisman became irrelevant years ago, when it became the "Heisman Trophy for Quarterbacks and Runningbacks from Big-Name Schools". The day there's nothing but offensive linemen and defensive players as finalists for the Heisman, then it'll be relevant. Not until then.

No. They both are playing for the National title so that is not a factor. Bradford has a better QB rating(186.29 vs 176.74). and more passing yards (4,464 vs. 2,515) than Tebow. Bradford also had 20 more touchdowns. To deny him would have been straight up favortism.

The award became irrelevant when Charles Woodson won it over Peyton Manning. It hasn't meant squat in a long time!
