A well known image and film sequence from the students in Tiannamen Square show a bloke with his shopping bags standing in front of a tank blocking it's way forward. What happened to him afterwards?

there is a lot of speculation that he was killed, or is still in hiding, simply put, - it is unknown.

Somebody from the crowd dove on him and forced him out of the way before he was crushed alive. This picture is refered to as The Unknown Rebel.

Many have wondered the same thing. I heard he was jailed and we will never know. I presume he was most likely executed for what he did. Just imagine, in his final hours, he will be remembered by the world in that one photo doing a very brave and unselfish thing.

from what I have read, no one who knows, (as in the fascist Chinese officials) is saying. poof. gone. my guess is that he would have been thought a hero if his ID got out so he was murdered by the Chi Po.
