Maybe. Will it be adequate? You'll have to try it.

Microsoft is notorius to under-define the requirements for their software...

Minimum system requirements for Halo
• Operating System: Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Second Edition, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), Microsoft Windows 2000, or Microsoft Windows XP.
• Computer/Processor: 733 megahertz (MHz) processor.
• DirectX: DirectX® 9.0 or later. (DirectX 9.0b is installed by Halo.)
• Memory: 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM.
• Hard Disk: 1.2 gigabytes (GB) of free hard disk space.
• Video card: 32 MB with 3D Transform and Lighting capable.
• CD: 8X.
• Sound: Sound card, speakers, or headphones with multiplayer play.
• *56.6 Kilobytes per second (KBps) modem or 10 MB network adapter. Multiplayer servers require broadband to run a server.
• *Additionally, you must have an Internet Service provider (ISP) or a Local Area Network (LAN), if you want to play multi-player games.

Seems the PC you descibes meets the minumum

667mhz should be PC2-5300
and it's got a nice video card in it. Should be enough for Halo 2.

You included a lot of information, which is good. But you forgot the most important parts. A. What the heck do you mean by "etchy"? Never heard the term. B. What games are you trying to play? We need that to know if the game you are trying to play exceeds the specs of your laptop. Keep in mind that the term "gaming laptop" is a bit of an oxymoron. There are not many laptops that are good for games, there are just laptops that are "OK" for gaming. Even some of the larger, desktop replacement style laptops are still lagging in the gaming performance aspect of computing.
