Some people say that Barry Bonds should be in the hall of fame even if he is guilty of lying to the grand jury. If he does get inducted to the hall of fame, shouldn't Marion Jones get her Olympic gold medals back?

I think that Marion Jones would have won those medals without steroids anyway. What do you think?

Steroids were made illegal in baseball in 1991, so Bonds should not be in the hall of fame if Jones cannot get her medals back. Maybe both should be banned.

"In truth, steroids have been banned in baseball since 1991 -- in a policy baseball officials made little effort to publicize"

I Agree That Jones Would Win The Medels Without Steroids But Bonds Is Going To Get Into The Hall Of Fame But Jones Won't Get Her Money Back.

P.S. Riviera: Pete Rose Will Never Get Inducted Into The Hall Of Fame B/C The Thing He Did Had A Name Called CHEATING.

I dont you understand the rules of various sports. Marion Jones broke rules that REQUIRE her to be stripped of medals. If Bonds used steroids, it was during a time when it was not a violation of baseball rules to do so. I'm not defending him, but this comparison, just like the obligatory ones to Pete Rose and Ty Cobb, completely miss the point and the issue.

I think that Marion Jones will not get her medals back because Barry Bonds is not officially illegial, there still determining whether or not he used steroids with his knowing. Marion Jones definitly used steroids and she admitted it on NBC News, all and all, she is definitly not getting her medals back and she might go to prison. Serving 3 to 5 inthe slammer.

If Marion Jones could have won the medals without drugs then she should have done that. By taking steroids, she is blatently saying "I can't win without help"

Bonds should make the HOF based on what his ability was, unless they decide to not vote for anyone using steroids, then he won't. On merit, he gets in.

Well, not quite.

See, steroids were only made illegal in the early 2000's.

Whereas, they've ALWAYS been illegal in the Olympics, and Jones knew that beforehand.

However, if Bonds makes the Hall of Fame, I'm starting a petition that Pete Rose should make it too.

Ofcourse not. She knowingly used steroids. Bonds didn't. Well we don't have to worry about her winning with out steroids because she used them anyways. End of discussion.

first off bonds does deserve to be in the hall regardless, if it comes out he did use it didnt effect his numbers nearly as much as people believe.
and to answer the question NO because she GAVE her medals back, they weren't taken.

Bonds and Jones perform under completely different sanctioning bodies, each with its own policies.

So the question is meaningless, as it presumes there is linkage or consistency between the governing bodies. The situation of either athlete has nothing to do with the situation of the other.
